what’s going on?
More poetry out there all the time – are Sacramento poets on a roll?
Yesterday – February 18, 2010 – an ordinary winter Thursday – there were five readings listed on www.eskimopie.net for the one day – and all the events were worth a visit. Add in Friday and Saturday, there are a dozen events in three days! Here’s a quick synopsis of the mix:
brown bag favorite poem at library
slam artist at Sac State
Erotic Poetry in Grass Valley
WTF Anthology with Gene Bloom and Baby Grand at Luna’s
New day and location for Andy and Brad’s Davis readings – now Natsoulas on third Thursdays
Friday night? Vox Love Poems at 25th Street this month
Terry Moore – new book release - at Upper Level Lounge
The Other Voice starts up again in Davis
a Haiti Benefit by Electropoetic Coffee at Luigi's Fungarden
and on Saturday Mary Mackey and Sandy Mackintosh at Luna’s at five
later on V. S. Chochezi at Carol's Books,
and the same night Phoenyx Reign at Jazzyblues Cafe, in West Sac
That’s 12 places to go in 72 hours. There was probably even more out there, but the key is that www.eskimopie.net is doing an incredible job maintaining this list of events for the region. So, starting now, the SPC website’s Regional Calendar will link you directly to www.eskimopie.net. We think it’s the best source of information about the wide range of what’s going on in poetry, fiction, and spoken word in our area. We’ll continue to provide detailed information on SPC events. Thanks to Rebecca Morrison for her excellent compilation of all that’s going on – SPC is planning to keep you posted better in 2010, and this is a first important step. Thanks to all the hosts, all the poets, and the audiences! Poetry month seems like it’s already here!
